Wind regimes and associated sand dune types in the hinterland of the Badain Jaran Desert, China

Wind controls the formation and development of sand dunes. Therefore, understanding wind regimes is necessary in dune research. In this study, we combined data from 2017 to 2019 at four meteorological stations (Cherigele Wuertabulage lake basins, Yikeri Sumujilin on top dunes) hinterland Badain Jaran Desert China, with high resolution Google Earth images analyze correlation between energy environments morphology. The results analysis indicated that both direction drift intensity exhibited notable spatial temporal variations. highest level activity was observed spring. Northwesterly northeasterly winds were dominant Desert. At Cherigele, Wuertabulage, stations, potential (DP) below 200.00 vector units (VU). most areas could be classified as low-energy environments. resultant differed different seasons, but overall mainly southeast. (RDP)/DP ratio greater than 0.30 parts study area, suggesting unimodal or bimodal characteristics.
